A Work In Progress
This website, like many things, is a work in progress. Please bear with me while I add content representing my life's work. Thanks for visiting!
My Favorite
This hard working little table is by far my favorite piece for no other reason than the way it has been accepted by its family. It lives in the kitchen next to a hearth. Warm and toasty when the rest of the house is cold, the family does everything there: homework, breakfast, bill paying, etc. Redwood is a soft wood and as the years have passed and the kids have grown, family life has left small remembrances in its surface... small dings and dents, pencil marks, dog scratches. All beautiful.
When the family first moved into their new dream home, about 60 feet of decayed redwood benches were removed from the garden. We had to dodge a nest of hornets to remove them. Hammer, hammer, pry, pry, buzz, buzz, run for your life. Most of the wood had deteriorated beyond hope. But there were a couple of slabs that were in good shape. In respect to the history of the property and it's former owners and long time fixtures of our community, Suzy asked if there was enough wood to build a small table. There was just enough.
